Treatment of autism spectrum children with thiamine tetrahydrofurfuryl disulfide: a pilot study.

Plain English Summary:

Autism is a disorder first seen in childhood that effects the social and verbal abilities of the individual. There have been many theories as to the cause, and many different ideas as to a way to help this disorder. Ten children who had a confirmed diagnosis of Autism were given thiamine supplements twice a day. The level of thiamine in the body was measured at the beginning and throughout the body, as well as other metals and nutrients. At the conclusion of the study, a reported 8 of the 10 children had improved clinically, and their level of nutrients was healthier after the administration of thiamine. Thiamine supplements then can help to improve the lives of children with autism.
